REH held a webinar in English on the monitoring of commitments to reduce the environmental footprint of donors and NGOs!

For several years now, various players in the international aid sector have been committed to reducing their environmental footprint. How far have these commitments come? What challenges are they facing? How do they monitor their commitments?

We attempted to answer these questions during this webinar, which presented the monitoring activities of two main declarations:

• The Humanitarian Donors’ Declaration on Climate and Environment, signed in 2022 by the EU and its 27 Member States.
• The Humanitarian Organisations’ Statement of Commitment on Climate, launched in 2020 and now signed by 13 NGOs.

This webinar (in English) provided an opportunity to understand what these commitments entail and how stakeholders can follow them up. It covered the following topics

• Monitoring the donor declaration: methods and results, with Karolina Kalinowska from DG ECHO
• Monitoring the Declaration of Commitment: lessons learned, with Johana Bretou-Klein from Groupe URD
• The point of view of the signatory NGOs, with Tania Chauvin from Electriciens sans Frontières and Camille Evain from Action Contre la Faim.
