Launch event – Multi-sectoral environmental risks analysis and mitigation measures (MERA) matrix, REH Environmental Assessments WG, 30/10/2024

The REH Environmental Assessments Working Group has developed the MERA (Multi-sectoral Environmental Risks Analysis) matrix to help humanitarian and development project developers and technical advisers to become aware of the environmental risks that the projects they are developing may entail, and to rapidly formulate recommendations to mitigate these risks. The matrix provides a non-exhaustive database of mitigation measures for each environmental risk associated with activities in the Food Security & Livelihoods, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, Shelter and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support sectors. The matrix will be available on the REH website from October 30th in English, French and Spanish.

The Working Group held the launch event for the first version of the MERA matrix on October 30th ! Other launch sessions will be held in French and Spanish over the coming months.

This event presented how the MERA matrix can be used, how it was developed and included a question and answer session. For more information, you can contact the WG via email at: evalenv@environnementhumanitaire.org.

This matrix was co-funded by the European Union Humanitarian Aid

Member organisations of the WG: Action Contre la Faim France, ACTED, French Red Cross, Fondation Terre des Hommes, Groupe URD, Netherlands Red Cross, Première Urgence Internationale, Solidarités International.
