DanChurchAid’s approach to reducing historical emissions, November 2022

Published on 30 November 2022

At DanChurchAid, they decided to take responsibility for their 100 years of work. So they dug into their archives and calculated the amount of CO2 emitted over the last 100 years. This amount is estimated at 165,000 tonnes of CO2.

In collaboration with Ecotrust, they calculated what the equivalent of these 165,000 tonnes of CO2 could be. The result is 280,000 trees, which they will plant in some of the most climate-exposed areas of Uganda.

As well as planting trees, they will also be helping to train farmers and food producers in new, long-term farming methods.
