Aware of the urgency of climate change and the importance of taking action, the NGO members of the Groupe Initiatives wanted to examine their practices and take action together in order to participate in the collective effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and better integrate these issues within their structures. An initial phase of identifying the needs of the organisations enabled the work to be directed towards 3 shared objectives (which are the main parts of this document):
(i) to define the common principles of an Organisational Climate Responsibility (OCR)
(ii) to have a source of data on good practices and lessons learned for the definition and deployment of an OCR and
(iii) to identify avenues of collaboration and support that meet the current needs of NGOs.
This publication, thanks to the preliminary work (interviews, surveys, consultations, etc.) and in particular the rich discussions at the study day on 20 September 2023, attempts to meet these objectives. This work is a first step and is intended to initiate a collective dynamic, particularly within the Gi, in the definition of a common climate (and more generally environmental, ecological and even social) strategy.
