Waste or Material Characterization Exercise Guidance, WREC, June 2024

The results of this exercise will allow your organization to understand your overallend-of-life itemsand think of alternative options to waste landfilling(e.g. reduce packaging, procure reusable items, repair and reuse devices that are broken, repurpose or recycle items, decide the safestavailable option to dispose the waste that cannot be recovered, etc.). Based on the parameters of qualityand quantity you will be able to developyour organization’s SWM plan and define the necessary activities and budget to manage your waste or materialresponsibly. It is now available in English, French and Spanish, with translations provided by Oxfam Intermón, a member of the REH waste management working group.
