This webinar will examine the current state of efforts to reduce the use of single-use medical items in the medical and humanitarian aid sectors. It will provide concrete ideas on how to reduce single-use by switching to alternative items, changing certain practices and raising staff awareness about reducing over-consumption.
- Neil Hind (National Health Services Shared Business Services – NHS) will make the case for reducing the impact of single-use items and present hospital case studies on switching to reusable items, remanufacturing medical devices and changing practices.
- Corentine Berthet (Supply Chain Sustainability Coordinator, Médecins Sans Frontières – MSF) will present strategies that have reduced consumption per medical consultation and share other relevant figures to illustrate the impact of reducing single-use items. She will also stress the importance of educating healthcare professionals about the over-consumption of single-use items.
The presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer session during which we will examine with the speakers the concrete actions that purchasing organisations can take to reduce the environmental impact and waste of medical articles.
This webinar will be held in English with simultaneous translation into French using Zoom’s dedicated tool.
